Russ Gregg

Russ Gregg (M.A. in Educational Leadership, Gordon College) served as Head of School at Hope Academy in Minneapolis from its founding in 2000 until 2026, growing it into a classical Christian school with 700 students and a national following. Having prepared his successor to lead the school into its next season, Russ has now expanded his role as Spreading Hope Network’s President into a full-time capacity, devoting his full attention to the Network’s national growth across America’s cities.

In 1999, God inspired Russ to quit his job to help lay the groundwork for a classical Christian school for his inner-city neighbors. He and his wife Phyllis, who taught at Hope Academy for over 20 years, live in the Twin Cities, where they raised their 3 children who are all grown with families of their own.

Russ serves on the Board of Directors of the Society for Classical Learning. He is a regular speaker and writer on Urban Classical Christian Education and is the author of The Mark of God and our Education Crisis (2018).
